First, I won’t leave tumblr completely! But I will stop as creator here and won’t be active anymore. I will keep tumblr to lurk around and to stay in contact with you, but I won’t post anymore.
I won’t stop as creator, tho. I’m already making a wordpress site right now where I will post my content from now on (cc and Sims pictures mostly). I will keep my already existing cc posts here as well, don’t worry. Maybe I will also make a flickr account, I will inform you about everything later.
Beside the fact that tumblr is as good as dead and everything’s fucked up now, I just saw that you have to use themes from now on which are only on their tumblr theme page. And… no. I won’t change my theme, because I ALWAYS have the problem that my blog is a complete mess as soon as I change the theme. Posts will be lost, the counts of likes, followers and so on will be fucked up as well. Plus, I don’t like most of the themes tumblr shares.
My personal opinion of this whole new guideline topic is, I don’t care about porn and nudity. I can live without it, because I simply don’t have any interest in sex as demi/asexual person and I’m quickly disgusted by those things if it’s about real people. I’d be glad if the whole porn blogs would disappear and I don’t care about artists who will suffer from it. But I care about our Sims community and the last hours have shown how messed up everything is right now. Especially story tellers and Sims NSFW blogs might be in danger, the guidelines are not precisely enough to tell if Sims is “too real” in their opinion or not. Many simblrs already decided to leave or switch to another website, which means, our community will fall apart because we will all use different websites from now on and it will be more difficult to write to each other and everything.
What pisses me off badly is this shitty algorithm. If you already decide to set up new rules and all, do it right for fucks sake! I mean, you didn’t do it within 5 minutes, you had time before you let us know about your new guidelines and doings! Sure, it is annoying if almost all your posts get flagged and the real problem is: It. Is. Not. Working. Correctly. . Yeah, it will take a while until everything works according to tumblr’s plan, like they said, but there are already blogs who suffer (greatest example is @sssvitlans). And we all know about the tumblr support. Sometimes they help if you’re lucky after writing 1 000 messages to them until they react. Sometimes, you’re unlucky and they will do nothing.
All in all, tumblr is no place where I feel comfortable anymore. As I said before, I can live with their new guidelines, but there are already so many things that don’t work correctly. Beside that, there are many things that disturb me on tumblr. I love to be a creator and I love my hobby, especially when I can share it with you all. But this site is no fun anymore. The last weeks I always read from different simblrs “my blog got terminated again and AGAIN”. So you always have to be afraid – you could be the next one. It doesn’t even matter if you post “correct” stuff or not, because it seems they terminate blogs randomly. They don’t bother to change their bad algorithsms or the way the work. This is no safe place where we can live and share our hobby and hard work, because we have to expect that tumblr will take it away from us in a second, because they don’t work precisely. Not only those things, but other ones, like their “blocking” system or other bad functions of this website made me think about my decision. I just don’t like it here anymore, but it has nothing to do with the community, only how tumblr’s working.
So, this is like a goodbye, because I won’t post anything here anymore (beside my sideblog I think) and I will slowly disappear. But I want you to let you know, I’m really glad I came here a few years ago. I met wonderful, kind and talented people and it’s a shame this will end soon the way it was before. And I’m really thankful for all your support. You’ve shown me something completely new. I didn’t know about appreciation before I came here. It was a whole new world to know I’m doing something people like. Something I’m good at. And I was able to make people a little bit happy.
I still have a little hope left that everything won’t be as bad as it seems right now and everything will be like always. We’ll see. When everything will turn out positive I will think about coming back and use tumblr for my hobby again. But not if it will stay like this now.
I will add my wordpress link later as soon as I finished everything (I want to make new preview pictures and all, so it will take a few days I guess)
So… that’s it from me :). You can write me any time, I will check messages regularly and reply. But my blog the way it was, is now inactive.

So with Tumblr @staff‘s announcement to ban adult content from their platform you all see the desaster of false flagged entries all over the communities. I understand Tumblr want to get rid of real problems like child pornography entries … but you all see what’s really happening. Pictures of familys, game screenshots without even seen pixelated people, item pictures like houses or … books … so much got flagged as NSWF/18+/nudity.
This is how automated filter work!
This is how the content filter will work when European’s article 13 becomes more real than it already is! And this web-apocalyptic scenario will come to all of us, I say. You’re not from Europe? Well, here’s a more positive, better Tumblr for you! I’ll use the announcement to remind all of you what could be our future. It won’t stop in Europe. It will affect the whole internet and everyone who share content.
Automated content filter won’t work. This isn’t the solution. Tell Tumblr @staff and tell your Euopean government representatives. Show them the desaster. Spread the word. Save the internet.
Who needs the internet when everything get’s blocked/deleted/filtered? Thanks for reading.
Facebook is dispersive as fuck to post sims-related stuff and especially stories. Also, you can’t really post any kind of nudity on there, as even something as innocent as breastfeeding will be flagged as “porn”;
Instagram is about as dispersive as Facebook for sims-related stuff, it kind of hides your post if you dare to include external links in the photo descriptions (hence it can not be used for sims downloads) and is also obsessed with avoiding nudity;
Twitter is basically a big no-no if you want to write a post that is longer than two lines;
Livejournal will ban you if you post anything LGBT related;
If you’re living in Europe, making a WordPress account might get you a 20 million euros fine if you don’t set up a proper privacy policy, thanks to the awesome GDPR laws;
Same goes for pretty much any other blogging platform;
…And now Tumblr is going to censor all “adult blogs”, but at the same time it is flagging pretty much ALL BLOG POSTS as “adult posts” because their filters suck and they can’t be bothered to fix them. And now we have to either delete our completely innocent posts THEY flagged as “NSFW” or wait for their (shitty) support to review a million posts in two weeks to get them back on our blogs.
All while the EU is about to go ahead with Article 13 that is going to censor all sorts of fanart, fanfiction, tribute music, movie reviews and anything that might contain anything that is even remotely related to copyrighted content.
…Please, tell me how all of this is supposed to help our “freedom of expression”, again?

P.S.: I’m in the process of moving the chapters of The Emergency Coven to Blogger, since so far it seems to be the only blogging platform that comes with an already-made GDPR compliant privacy policy. Only the first four chapters have been uploaded so far. I will try to upload the rest in the next days, and then start thinking of a possible alternative place to upload my files as well. Seriously, Tumblr, this was the last straw.
Okay, folks. So. Tumblr’s jumped the shark in a big way, and I’m not even just talking about indiscriminately blocking all “adult” content on a platform that IS, in fact, primarily 18+.
Many blogs, like the wonderful @blackkatmagic , that are not especially NSFW have vanished.
(And I for one LIKE being able to go to curated porn blogs run by actual people and have a chance of finding stuff to my taste, it was one of the things that kept me on this hellsite, but that’s another issue entirely.)
I know lots of people are talking about migrating, but none of us are sure to where yet. Pillowfort seems to be an option, some people are talking about Twitter. But for now, it’s a mess, and even if we knew where we were going, it’s often a huge process, and a lot of us have stuff on tumblr that ONLY exists there.
One possible quick solution to save your blogs, both NSFW and personal, is to import it to WordPress. I found this solution through from frantic googling on how to save an entire blog, text posts an all. There are several apps for downloading all the pictures from a tumblr, (Plently for Windows, but only a few paid ones for mac, of which Tumbelog Picture Downloader is working for me so far) but this is the only solution I’ve seen so far that allows you to save EVERYTHING. I downloaded my NSFW blog in like 10 min. My regular blog, which is significantly larger, is in the process of importing, but I don’t anticipate any problems. I will, of course, update you if I have any.
This tutorial I found worked really easily. http://quickguide (.) tumblr (.) com/post/39780378703/backing-up-your-tumblr-blog-to-wordpress
I put parenthesis around the .’s like we’re back in FF-Hell, just in case tumblr’s new thing about outgoing links kicks in. You know what to do.
To break it down, just in case:
Sign up for a WordPress.com account at wordpress (.) com/start
You’ll have to create an account, with your email, a username, and a password. They should send you a confirmation email immediately, check it, activate it, and you’re good to go.
On the site, it will ask you for a site name. That page asks you a bunch of other information too, but you only have to fill out the site name.
Then you have to give your site a URL. If you’re lucky, your tumblr URL is still available, if not you’ll have to come up with another one, sorry.
It will tell you if that option is still available for free.
Then it will ask you to pick a plan. Free is really good enough, I swear.
Now you’re set up! You can import your tumblr!
The only differences from the linked tutorial are that the Import button is now on the first level menu, not in tools.
Hit Import, then you have to follow the link for “other importers” at the bottom, to find the option for Tumblr.
Then you’ll have to sign in with tumblr, using your normal tumblr credentials. You’ll be redirected there automatically.
You’ll have to allow WordPress permissions on your blog.
Then your blogs, including all your sideblogs, will show up in wordpress.
Hit import, wait a WHILE depending on the size of your blog, and you’re done!
ALSO!!
I made my NSFW blog private for now, since I don’t know WP’s policy on NSFW.
This means that to access it, someone has to have an account and request access. But hey, part of our problem on this hellsite has been people going places they aren’t wanted, so I don’t personally see this as a bad thing. They can send a request from the landing site on your blog, you get an email, click a link in the email, and PRESTO, they have access.
To make it private, go to Settings > Reading > Site Visibility. Go back and check, it took me changing the setting twice for it to actually stick.
tl;dr, you can import your entire blog to wordpress in just a few steps.
I’m going to tag the hell out of this, in no particular order. PLEASE reblog this and spread the word so people know it’s an option. If you’re having trouble, PM me, and I’m happy to help.
I’ve created a google doc so we can keep track of everyone’s discord, twitter, and/or wordpress so everyone can check the doc and see where their favourite simblrs are going in case this tumblr thing doesn’t clear up. In the google doc, feel free to comment your username, discord, twitter, and/or wordpress and I’ll add you into the doc!
I think it would be best if we make an individual place to see all simblrs, similar to the doc for WMS recolours and such. So please reblog this so we can get the word out
Soup.io – well-known alternative to Tumblr. Reblogging, post types, themes, collab blogs, dashboard, artsy, great community already there. Soup can auto-import everything you’ve posted on Tumblr.
TypePad – Includes reblogging. Dashboard and post types similar to Tumblr.
